Jeanne Mayo
Youth And Young Adult Ministries Director of the Atlanta Tabernacle/ President of Youth Source Ministries/ Executive Director, Master's Commission Atlanta
Jeanne's life mission statement is “The motivation and mentorship of Kamikaze Christianity into practicing and potential Kingdom champions.” That probably makes it no surprise that during her nearly four decades leading thriving youth ministries, she has always been intricately involved in Masters Commissions. Lloyd Zigler, founder of the entire Masters Commission movement, affectionately refers to her as “The First Lady of Masters Commission.”
Acclaimed by Ministries Today as " America 's Number One Youth Pastor," and given an honorary doctorate from Oral Roberts University , Jeanne Mayo has been given many titles over the years. The title that best fits her however, is “mom”, for the key ingredient in her mentoring style has always been genuine love.
The years have seen incredible results. In Nebraska , she multiplied a group of a few dozen students into hundreds. Then in Illinois , she was met by a group of 30 students that grew to nearly 1,000 and a Christian school of 1,400. While in California , she had the privilege of developing a group of 90 students into over 500 in only one year's time. Currently, she and her husband are leading an incredible team in Atlanta where amazing growth is happening once again.
Jeanne's successful ministry has placed her in high demand as a youth ministry and leadership communicator. She has traveled extensively the U.S. and the globe, speaking in countless venues to teenagers, college students as well as their leaders.
One would think that this sort of national influence would be the focus of Jeanne's total energies. But because she has the heart of a mentor, she wants to come alongside Pastor Dave and Stefanie Brickey, Jordan Marcon, and the MC Atlanta team in any and every way possible to enrich the Masters Commission experience. Jeanne meets with the MC student body on a personal basis every week to equip, encourage, instruct, and inspire them on Kingdom-related topics. She is also the noted author of "Uncensored: Dating, Friendships, and Sex" and "Thriving Youth Groups." She pours into them her life's philosophy which could best be summarized by her favorite quote by Jim Elliot:
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot loose.”
On a personal level, she is married to the Senior Pastor of the TABERNACLE, Pastor Sam Mayo , whom she refers to as her “best friend and hero.” Her two adult sons, Josh and Justin, are both in fulltime ministry and continue to be the joys of her life.
