1. What is Master’s Commission Atlanta?
Masters
Commission Atlanta was established in September 2004 out of the
impassioned commitment of Jeanne Mayo to create
a life-changing nine month discipleship program for Christian young
adults. The “DNA” of this program is reflected the “6
R’s” of MC Atlanta’s mission statement: “Reckless,
Relentless, Radical, Ruthless, Relational, and Revolutionary.”
The focus of Masters Commission Atlanta is to create a living laboratory
where biblical leadership, character, and heart after God are all
cultivated. These exciting nine months of hands-on ministry, academic
training, and spiritual growth create an experience that is hard
to match.
MC Atlanta is relational. As a part of the family, you will have
the friendship possibility of a lifetime. You will work together,
laugh together, pray together, and sometimes even hurt together
as a true spiritual family.
MC Atlanta believes that your destiny is determined, not by what
you possess, but by what possesses you, and is looking for people
who want to be “possessed” by Christ in a new and life-changing
way.
Dare to believe that your reading of these words right now is not
an accident. Dare to make a move that will change the rest of your
life. Dare to apply to Masters Commission Atlanta.
MASTERS
COMMISSION ATLANTA it’s a family thing…
2. Ministries and Ministry Tracks
What are ministry tracks? Our ministry track program allows a student
to spend a trimester being mentored and intricately involved in
a specific area of ministry that most captures their interest.
a. Youth Ministry: (Not offered as an individual track, ALL students will receive training through out the week for this)
Ever wanted to be in the middle of an exciting youth revolution?
That is exactly what the Lord is creating in Oxygen Student Ministries.
Jeanne Mayo, Oxygen director, has led youth ministries that moved
from as little as 15 students to as much as 1,000 students every
week, but the signature of Jeanne’s ministry is much deeper
than numerical growth. Understanding that it is easy to build a
“social club” but it takes substantial time, effort,
and the touch of God to build a ministry that sees students changed
from the inside out, Oxygen is proving itself to be a ministry that
produces lasting change in student’s lives.
With
Oxygen being in existence for over 6 years, you will have the
unique opportunity to join the team near “Ground Zero”.
This first hand experience in building ministry from the ground
up will be an incredible asset and learning tool for the rest of
your life whether you go into full time ministry or live your ministry
in everyday life. Youth ministry majors from across the nation would
give anything for this priceless, once in a lifetime opportunity.
In the span of nine months you will not only see Oxygen grow numerically,
but you will also see how a ministry can deepen and grow in a passionate
pursuit after Jesus Christ. Youth ministry opportunities will include
small group leadership, drama, discipleship, worship, and much more.
With
the combined leadership of Pastor Nick and Jill Nelson who came to us after pastoring a healthy youth ministry in Michigan for 7 years,
Jeanne herself, and Jordan Marcon who played very strategic roles
in helping Jeanne pioneer two youth ministries, the opportunity
for development in youth ministry is second to none.
b.
Children’s Ministry:
The Tabernacle, home church of MC Atlanta, is also home to an emerging children’s ministry that you will have opportunity to involve yourself in. There are many opportunities to work with children of all ages, from weekly children’s ministry programs, working on the streets of some of Atlanta’s underprivileged areas through various inner city ministries and much more. Our desire is to see children mentored by raising up effective leaders who not only reach a child’s interest, but who also reach children’s hearts for Jesus Christ.
c.Creative Communications:
Because of the effect media has had on our culture, creativity is
no longer an option, but a necessity. Thus, our creative communications
team works to produce dramas, human videos, video presentations,
dance, stomp, and much more…all with the aim of presenting
the truth of Christ’s Word in a relevant way so the world
we live in will understand.
Our
goal is to raise up a team of individuals who will use their creative
gifts to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ come alive and provide
a platform for them to do so in various settings. Students will
have the opportunity to share their creative works not only in our
local church setting but also in large venues and various ministries
across the nation.
d.Sound and Lighting:
Let’s face it; we live in an environmentally driven world…maybe because what’s around us plays to many of our senses. Our desire for this track is to equip and prepare you to reach our media minded culture. Students will be mentored on how to “create environments” of excellence in church settings that do not distract from, but point people to God.
e.Video Production and Editing:
We’ve all heard the saying “seeing is believing”. Our focus for this track is to teach and equip students to produce original and professional video to help enhance the gospel message. Students will be involved in hands on filming and video editing projects that will be implemented into various ministry outreaches, retreats, services and promotions.
f.Administration:
Ministry is much more than effectively communicating through speaking and media. This track is designed to help students sharpen an area that is many times overlooked and in many ways will determine the level of success in an individuals life. Ministry bound or not, this track will challenge, equip and motivate even the least organized.
g.Verbal Communication:
St. Francis of Assisi said “Preach the gospel at all times, when necessary, use words”. This track is designed to sharpen and educate a student’s communication in areas such as preaching, teaching, small group discussions, and everyday interaction. It is our goal to help each student relate in a more relevant way to the culture they are trying to reach.
h.Inner City / CommunityOutreach
Atlanta is one of America’s most influential prominent cities.
Though we get to experience all of Atlanta’s beauty, we aggressively
strive to experience the side of Atlanta that isn’t so beautiful
or comfortable. If Jesus were walking the earth today in the flesh,
this is the place we would probably find Him…Atlanta’s
inner city.
MC
students will have the opportunity to be involved in making a tangible
difference in many people’s lives that are often over looked
and forgotten. Our goal is to put students outside of their comfort
zone and teach them to notice and love ALL people. As apart of this
ministry a student will have the opportunity to work with many established
Inner City ministries and the city of Atlanta. How can we as individuals identify and meet needs within our city and close proximity of our church and homes? That is the foundational question.
i.Graphic Design:
This track’s purpose is to cultivate a students creativity in the areas of computer graphics and visual art. Students will learn the basics of graphic design and have multiple platforms with which they can apply their work.
j.Community Outreach:
The purpose of this track is to cultivate a desire and passion to reach out to and love the community one lives in. The outreaches can come in many different forms from building relationships, working with local schools or hospitals, structured events, service projects, etc… How can we as individuals identify and meet needs within our city and close proximity of our church and homes? That is the foundational question.
As a part of MCATL you are giving the opportunity to impact students
directly as well as through their leaders. Between the two conferences,
MC Atlanta students were directly involved in making a difference
in the lives of over 4,000 people from around the world.
The theme of NYLC 2005 was RELENTLESS. We challenged thousands of
youth pastors and youth leaders from around the world to go back
home and be RELENTLESS about pursuing the youth and young adults
of this nation! We watched as thousands of men and woman flooded
the altars, broken and ready to quit. It was our honor to pray with
them, and watch them walk away, motivated, encouraged, and ready
to RELENTLESSLY prsue God’s calling for their lives!
